The catalogue investigates his sharp wit, shrewd political appraisal and perceptive social commentary – all achieved while presenting his subjects as delightful and sophisticated members of polite society. This volume provides a sparkling overview of his finest works with contributions from Martin Postle and MaryAnne Stevens amongst others. – from Royal Academy of Art
Johan was a very fine artist and all his paintings just like watching a 3D painting – so vivid, colourful, attention to details in fabrics, fashion, facial expression. What a wonderful artist he was! Completely admired him.
