Time Flies

Luckily I have past all my exams with my hard-work, and got some satisfied results during this year. However, I was not supposed to write something here because I am still doing my final revision. I think I might take a break from it.

During one year, I improved a lot in English Academic Studies and learnt incredible new things, as well as meeting so many friends in London. I have to admitted that studying in the UK is hard that is why I put so much effort on it . I enjoy living in London which is a fantastic metropolitan city with never ending restaurants, shopping, drinking and night-life. I don’t think I never will feel tired of living here.

Anyway, John, Miwa and I went to eat some Indian food for rewarding our hard studying. Sometimes you just want to eat some big spicy curry dishes and there were so delicious and tasty. Friends and I went to have some Spanish food in Soho on Friday night, it was very tasty and reasonable. Good food, good life, then happy day for me! Some updated pictures here.

幸运的我总算过了这一年的辛苦学习,也得到了非常满意的分数,这些分数来之不易啊,要得到高分十分不容易。本应该还在复习最后考试的,但我想给自己一个喘口气的时候。

这一年中,我在英文学术方面提高了很多,也学了很多经济管理和政治的科目,我真的蛮喜欢的新知识的。同时也认识了很多全球各地的朋友,让我认识他们的文化和性格。拿一个英国文凭不简单啊,我真的花费了很多心思和精力去得到好成绩。伦敦-这个国际大都市,富有历史文化底蕴,又是摩登时尚购物和食物天堂,酒吧文化,是个不夜城,只要有钱,生活在这里会很好过。对于我喜欢新鲜的我,实在太爱伦敦了,总给我无数的新体会。

为了奖励大家的辛苦学习,今晚我们去吃了印度菜,约翰吃不了辣,点了超级大的牛肉汉堡加烟肉,但我和日本朋友点了超辣的咖喱牛肉,美和点了咖喱虾,喝上黑啤,真是享受。有时候你就是特想吃辣辣的咖喱!周五又和好朋友去吃西班牙菜,享受辛苦的奖赏的! Cheers!有更多的照片

Road Trip – Brighton / Beachy Head

Second Day

The weather was foggy when we arrived Brighton, however, I can imagine it would full of people when it comes to Summer. Brighton is a lively and young city. At first, we went to the Theme park in Brighton Pier and had some fun. Then we visited the famous Royal Pavilion, then we drove to the Beachy Head.

Beachy Head, from the name you can tell is the pointy cliff of Sussex, as famous as the white cliffs. We stopped there for half and hour and it was really relaxing. You could see a open-space land and the ocean, sheep, cows and farms. Then we drove back and ate in a famous Dimsum restaurant called Drunken Monkey in Liverpool Street. I heard there are many celebrities and cool trendy young people hanging out there, so it must be great to eat and hang out. Food was not bad; price was totally acceptable, but service could be improved. Then we drove back home and had a great fun holiday.

Third day – Lee Valley

Last station was Lee Valley – 40 minutes drive outside London, then we had a picnic in the park, and rent 4 bikes and rode for 4 hours, seeing the canal, forest, swans and enjoyed the sun and Spring in England. It was the most amazing place to have a weekend break for cycling. Bike rental is 2 pounds per hour. Super good deal. Here are some more pictures.

第二天 -布朗顿 / 海滩头

我们开车1个半小时后,到达布朗顿,可惜天气还是有点雾气,海滩上不是很多人,布朗顿是出了名的漂亮和有海滩度假胜地。但可以想象中夏天应该超级多人到这里来晒太阳。给我的感觉它是一个年轻有活力的城市。我们走到海边的‘游乐场’玩了‘鬼屋’ 上下飞船,吓死我了,象海盗船一样,太久没有玩了,功力下降了许多!然后去出名的有印度色彩的-皇宫宫殿,听说以前一个国王旅游到印度,喜欢印度的宫殿建筑就照样子也建了一个,然后我们吃了个简单的炒面就开车去海滩头了。

海滩头,象它的名字一样,是布朗顿最凸出的陡峭的峭壁,也是以白色峭壁出名,我们走了半个小时,海滩头给人很开阔和休闲的感觉,很自然,看着羊啊牛的,吃着草,广阔的草地,看着海,晒着太阳,感觉朴素中带浪漫,十分享受。大家也累了,开车到伦敦商业街利物浦街吃饭,选了一个听说蛮多名人去蒲的餐厅叫 - 醉猴,吃点心和喝酒的地方。我们点了很多点心和些鸡尾酒。食物还可以,价格也蛮能接受的,但服务要改进下。这样就结束了我们第二天旅游。

第三天 - Lee Valley

我们选了伦敦郊外一个公园湖边野餐和骑自行车,放松和运动,户外运动是我们的最爱。单车是两位退休老人家成立的,2磅一个小时,哪里有这么便宜,晚去还没有单车租呢,十分popular啊!值得推荐。这里还有超级多的照片呢!

My First Birthday in London

Today it’s my 27 years birthday but also is my first birthday in the UK. I am very grateful that I have met a lot of good friends as well as having such a good time together during the school term. Last night, we went to celebrate our tri – birthdays for Elieen from Korean, John and me who were all born in March with Miwa and Vicky. John found a French restaurant called Savoir Faire in Holborn, and it has been recommended as the top-table in 2008 with 5 stars reviews.

The restaurant was very cosy, French style with oil-panting on the wall. Only flaw was the music! The price was affordable and the food was absolutely tasty, just like their name – Savoir Faire in French means someone knows the trick.

We ordered some wine, starters, main courses and desserts. I ordered a slowed-braised lamp and it was a super huge lamb leg with mush-potato, which it could feed two people and I ate them all! Others ordered the popular dish – Duck, and John ordered a fish dish. After the meal, we all stuffed and left with a big satisfaction. Friends and I had a fantastic time with delicious food. London is the city you can think of any food from different nationalities, and never could try them all.

I have received many birthday cards and wishes from friends and families. John bought me the ticket to see Keane with Ladyhawke Concert on 30th of May. I have bought myself many clothes to spoil myself. Moreover, John cooked a delicious fish with roasting huge mushroom with cheese tonight, along with beer and chocolate pudding!

今天是我27岁的生日,同时也是我在英国的第一个生日。幸运的我在短短的半年中认识很多好朋友,也和他们度过了很多校园美好的时光!昨晚我们为了庆祝韩国美女Elieen,约翰和我三人都是3月份生日,一起和日本好友美和和香港老友Vicky一起五人读过。约翰选了个法国餐厅,听说这个餐厅10年历史,评价很高,很多杂志和评论都说食物超级棒,厨师有5星级的水平,这一定要尝试下。

餐厅十分法国味道,2层楼,墙壁是手工的大幅油画,唯一不足的是音乐 – 配合不了餐厅的味道。价钱中高,但食物超级美味! 就像餐厅的名字在法文的意思是 – 它知道秘诀 (他们能做出拿手好菜!)我们叫了红酒,开胃菜,主菜和甜点 – 我选了漫炖了5个小时的羊腿和土豆泥,羊腿够2-3个人的分量,我自己一人独吃掉!其他朋友选了最出名的鸭胸,程度刚刚好,约翰点了鲈鱼,他说超级好吃!然后再甜点!天啊,我们把碟子都吃得一干二净,5个人吃到超级饱,决定去伦敦眼周边走半个小时消化下,大家对餐厅的评价特别高,食物超级物有所值!

太爱伦敦的理由就是你可以吃到全球各地特别好吃的食物,因伦敦多元化很多国际人都在这里生活,餐厅的选择更是超级多,你要你想到的,都可以找到,品种太多了!

约翰送给我Keane的5月底VIP伦敦演唱会门票和一双西班牙出的运动鞋,我看了很久,就是太贵不拾得买,他买了给我。我当天在自己买了几条裙子,哈哈!我们今晚喝些啤酒,烤大蘑菇加芝士在上面,烤鱼和甜点是巧克力布丁,浓浓的巧克力从布丁里面流出来,超级棒!

River Trip and Parties

The school has organised a boat trip to Greenwich on Wednesday. We were on the top boat and saw all the tourists’ attractions such as London Eye and Big Ben. Additionally, I also met some new friends from other classes and had some crazy laugh with thousands pictures taken. It was a windy cold spring day, but it didn’t reduce our fun at all.

After we arrived in Greenwich, we walked around a little because I have been there with John’s family last summer. Friends decided to go to the pub and have some beer! Then all of us – 16 people went to the restaurant I had booked, ate some delicious food and went to another bar.

So we decided to try the popular Buddha Bar near London Eye. I heard that it is a franchise which is based in Paris and all over the world. It is a very posh and fancy bar / restaurant. We had some talks, laugh and dance till 12 am, then we went home, the rest of friends went on continually till 5am! It was properly the last time all the friends gathering – I will miss you of my friends. Here some pictures to share with you

因学期快结束了,所以学校组织周三大家坐船一游泰晤士河到格林尼治 – (英国伦敦东南一市镇,为本初子午线所经过的地方〕虽然当天风很大,大家兴致还是不减,坐在船顶,照相聊天和在船上看伦敦出名旅游景点。大家到了格林尼治之后决定去当地的酒吧喝上几杯,接着16个朋友去我订的餐厅(就在伦敦眼50米的地方,餐厅面对着泰晤士河,风景绝佳)。之后当然再接下场,自从离开广州之后,好久没有这么疯狂过了 – 去了很出名的(佛吧)听说它的基地在巴黎,然后世界各地都有。佛吧里面超级高级,看得出是很多政客去谈生意或疯狂的地方。我们喝了很多鸡尾酒,快到12点,我和约翰先回去了,他明天要上班,其他的同学疯狂再换去跳舞的地方疯狂到零晨5点。太疯狂了!可能大家分别后也没有很多机会大家一起吃饭疯狂,我会想念你们! 这是一些最新照片

Our Home-made Pumpkin Pie

John bought me a recipe book for a Christmas gift. It is one of my favorite chefs’ dessert book James Martin – from the TV series ‘Sweet Baby James’. Today we decided to make one of the recipes and picked the pumpkin pie with pecan. The hard part was making the pastry with pecan, but we did it well. It only cost us a few pounds for the ingredients, but it worths at least 10 pounds in the cafe. The pie looks so amazing and tastes great – it’s not too sweet, with a top layer that could easily melt into your mouth, and pastry is crunchy and tasty with the pecan. It is exactly perfect! We are so proud and pleased with our pie. Hope we will make it for you one day. Here are some pictures

自家做的果仁南瓜派

约翰圣诞节送给我最爱的厨师James Martin的甜品书叫“占慕士的甜宝贝“ (我自己翻译的)我们在广州明珠台看过他的这个甜点专辑。今天我们终于有时间做甜点,我们选择了容易做果仁南瓜派。最难做的是打底的馅饼皮,果仁和馅饼皮一起搓,然后加5种香料,南瓜,焦糖,双层奶然后放进炬炉45分钟,出来的效果超级专业,不甜不腻,外层柔软融入你口中,馅饼皮脆而有果仁味道。超级好吃!等大家来我们家做客我做给你们吃哦!照片吸引人吧?

Friends Celebrate Christmas

It was our last day in the first semester of the school and friends decided to celebrate in Spitafield Market in Liverpool Street last night. We went to the Latin Brazil Restaurant. The food was really good. We ordered some cocktails and had some laugh. We are glad that school was off and most friends are going to back their countries soon; so the dinner was also the celebration of the Christmas and New Year!

Christmas is coming – people are all busy preparing gifts and decorating their houses, and it feels like Chinese New Year! We will spend our Christmas with John’s family for a week, then we will back to London for new year 09. This year has been passing so quickly. Anyway, I am looking forward to experiencing my first Christmas in the UK. Here are some pictures with my friends

昨天同学说为了庆祝第一学期最后一天和提早庆祝圣诞,因为大多数的朋友都飞回家过圣诞!我们去了利物浦街吃饭,我很喜欢利物浦街的餐厅,就象香港的中环一样,时尚和充满活力。我们终于选了一个拉丁风情的餐厅,点了些鸡尾酒,小吃和正餐。我点了羊腿排,约翰点了拉丁鸡肉卷等。圣诞快到了,这段时间,大家都在忙于买礼物,装饰自己家,圣诞气氛很浓厚,就象我们的过年一样忙碌!我们会和约翰的家人一起过圣诞节,然后回伦敦过新年。还记得我姐和姐夫Marco 前年12月9号来广州,然后圣诞节在北京度过,现在又一年了。我们就放3个星期假,讨厌放假还要写论文。今年过得真快,一眨眼就过去了,很期待我的第一个英国的圣诞节。这是我和朋友一起吃饭的一些照片

Belgo and Bierodrome

Friends and I went to the Belgian restaurant called Belgo last friday to celebrate my friend’s birthday and also a cheer-up for no-more exams. The restaurant is located in Covent Garden and it is really famous for the mussels and of course their beers! It is a popular restaurant and people always queue outside, but very easy to get a seat. It is an opening kitchen and you can feel the noises and smell delicious food when you walked in.

We ordered a beef with Belgium beer – dark favor, beef was tender and juicy; a chicken dish – creamy but less tasty than the beef; a classic sausages and mash – creamy and perfect mash with spicy sausages; and finally my favorite green spinish with creamy mussels – looked like a green pizza, but so delicious! Thumbs up!

Moreover, there is always a room for desserts. So we tried the Belgium chocolate cheese cake and passionfruit with white chocolate mousse. Oh dear! They were so enjoyable and definitely 5 stars.

Overall, service is not bad, environment is cool and trendy, and food price is acceptable. Each person spent 20 pounds. I definitely go there again.

比利时餐厅 - Belgo

朋友们上周五一起去吃比利时菜,一来庆祝我朋友的生日,二来庆祝考试结束。餐厅听说在伦敦很出名,到9点多还有很多人在等位子就知道名气。餐厅招牌菜就是”淡菜”,我都忘记中文叫它呢,然后就是比利时啤酒拉!进入餐厅,时尚但随意,红色装饰,开放式厨房格局,蛮不错的!

我们点了一个啤酒牛肉,超浓的牛肉味和雪梨香味,牛肉滑而嫩!再来一个奶油鸡肉,香淡但一般;还有比利时香肠加土豆泥,滑滑的土豆泥,香辣的香肠;最后来个波菜芝士淡菜,超级好吃。我一般不吃淡菜的,但这种做法我就吃。哈!我点了比利时啤酒,朋友们点了草莓啤酒。吃完了,服务生强烈介绍要点比利时巧克力芝士蛋糕和百香果白巧克力摩丝(热带果摩丝)。食物十分野味,甜品不甜而入口香滑!超级不错的介绍,我还想再去呢。这是我朋友照的几张照片

Shanghai Blues (Dimsum and Live Jazz)

As a dimsum lover I ate a lot of delicious dimum while Guangzhou; it’s one of the main things I love about Guangzhou. As a new visitor in London I wanted to see what the dim sum here is like.

I read Shanghai Blues is one of the better dimsum restaurants. As well as serving dim sum in a luxury Chinese and Western style decoration they also serve Gongfu Tea and have live Jazz music every Friday night – everything I could hope for in a restaurant! The dimsum is about 5 pounds per dish, normal evening dish from 15 pounds.

Dimsum and food is 3.8 of 5; environment 4.5 of 5; service 4.5 of 5. I am sure I will return there again.

说到喝茶,吃点心,这是我在广州7年必做的事,三五知己周末一起去喝茶聊天,广州的点心价廉物美,什么档次都有,这也是广州的魅力一处。所以我要在伦敦尝试一些好吃的点心餐厅,我相信太多的这样的餐厅了。听说“蒲点”是评为超好的十大点心餐厅之一。这个餐厅的特色是你不仅仅你可以尝到精致的点心,中西结合的奢华环境,还可以点功夫茶,听爵士乐(每周五都有)天啊,这不是统统是我的最爱嘛,点心,功夫茶和爵士…我们定了7点半,进入餐厅,装饰超级时尚,里面象个俱乐部,蓝色基调,听说鸡尾酒最出名。点心从5磅起,其他菜从18磅起,5星最高来说,我给点心评价3.8个星,环境4.5, 服务4.5。相信我以后还是会去尝试多点点心的,听现场的爵士…
