Best Friend Shine in the UK

I got two best friends who are Caro and Shine, both we have been together for more than 20 years. One thing I always feel blessing is that you have a best friend in your life and that’s all you need.

Shine and I are very close and she knows everything of me, and she is the one who will always be there for me. Since John and I moved to the UK, I miss her so much, and so excited to hear that she was coming to have a holiday here.

We drove to the Ilkey moors and Bolton Abbey, then back home to have Sunday Roast. It’s shame that Shine didn’t stay long in Leeds, but we had a good time together. Sometimes I hate growing up, because you can not spend as much time as we used to be in the University, and talked about our future and silly dreams. Life is going on, and we are getting old together.

I am a lucky woman who has such a best friend supports me in every way. When Shine is not here, John replaces her place and keep me warm and give me strength on the road.  A song to Shine and me…

My shoes

Nice back to London and have my own space and life back. I do feel sad to leave my family and niece, as well as good friends in GZ. I had a fabulous time in GZ and Shantou. Thanks all the friends’ dinners and treats in China.

As a shoes lover, I also bought some of the new shoes back to London. I especially like the new blue boots it costs me hundreds of ‘Chairman Mao’ but I just love it so much and it’s very comfortable to walk. While I organised my clothes and shoes, I took some pictures to remind me how many pair of shoes I have. I don’t think it’s many pairs because I am a greedy girl. John always thinks I spend too much on shoes and shopping. Haha…

London is 9 to 15 degrees, and it’s Autumn towards Winter. We properly will see bonfire next week and go to see Mew’s concert soon. We will go to have dinner with my London friends this weekend to catch up. Look forward to seeing them.

Shantou – relax, food & family

Back to Shantou

The most important thing in Shantou is to see my niece – Sissy. I remember she was born for a week then I left Shantou, and now she is 14 months and learning how to walk and talk. She is incredible smart and adorable.

Mum and Dad are very happy to see me being home, especially Mum, she always cooks so many food, and I don’t even need to get out of the house. I love our new house in central of Shantou with enormous rooms and space for niece to play. Actually I do very little at home, basically just relax, eat food, help Mum do some house work, and then spend time with niece ( I enjoy being a babysitter. )

However, I haven’t seen much of my Shantou friends. Some of them are in Guangzhou or Shenzhen, or most of them are married and expecting a child.

Though sometimes I got bored in Shantou, maybe because I am so used to the busy life in metropolitan cites or maybe I don’t realise I am in holiday.

I can’t believe that it will be ended soon with few days. The irony thing is that I quite look forward back to London, to have my own life back, moreover I do miss John a lot. Anyway, John and I will be back to China together soon in next few months.

I always love my home town no matter where I am.

回到汕头最重要的事情就是看我侄女－希希。记得我走之前她才刚出生1周，现在也有14个月，高高的个子，还在学走路和说话。她真的太聪明和可爱的，每次看到她会放电的大眼睛，任何人都忍不住爱上她，想亲她一口。

爸妈蛮高兴我回来的，特别是老妈子，整天买这墩那的给我吃，让我其实不用出门天天有好东西吃，也让我少吃了很多汕头的小吃。我蛮喜欢爸妈的新房子的，空间很大，给希希整天跑来跑去玩个够。其实在汕头主要还是休息，吃东西和帮老妈子打扫下房子，但最多是做希希的玩伴和保姆，我真开心能陪她这么常时间，以后不晓得她还认得我不？

但这次我却少走亲戚和朋友了，有些在外头，有些也结婚生孩子，大家有了家庭，出来的机会就少很多。虽然有时候会觉得在汕头蛮无聊的，也许我习惯了大都市的生活，或许我忘记了我在度假中，当你忙碌总想有休息的时间，休息的时候想忙碌点什么，这就是人生啊。

觉得无法相信很快就要结束我的假期。实际上我蛮期待回去过自己的生活，重要的是我蛮想念约翰的！但我们过年时候2人一起再回来吧。无论身在何处，我都是爱我家和汕头。

Guangzhou – Too Much Fun

Guangzhou - too much fun

Back to Guangzhou

I was so looking forward back to China. There are two things I have to do; one is to eat a lot of chinese food, and to see my friends. I arrived on Thursday night after 12 hours plane plus 3 hours couch from HK airport, but I was still very excited to meet Casper and Shine. They have been waiting for me at ‘Uncle’ which is a HK canteen style restaurant to have dinner with me. However, I was not aware of Yuki and other friends had booked a table to welcome me. At the end, I hanged out with all my friends at my first night.

The whole Guangzhou trip was so busy that I didn’t have time to feel jet-leg. First day, I had dimsum with my ex-colleagues, and went to visit their new office. It did feel weird, and felt like I had never left before. Anyway, it’s so good to see them again.

Then friends had arranged a trip to Yangjiang at the weekend. We were so lucky to eat a lot of seafood which just caught from the ocean. After dinner, we went to have firework on the beach, then ate again. Thanks Jenie’s husband for their hospitality, so that we ate, slept and entertained well. It was a unforgettable journey.

The rest days in Guangzhou I ate with friends and went to foot / body massages basically every night. It wasn’t enough to spend one week in Guangzhou, then I have to back to Shantou to see my family.

It’s hard to say goodbye to my Guangzhou friends! I wish I could be here forever.

我十分期待回国，回去我的心只想两件事，第一就是吃很多中国菜，第二就是见我许多朋友们！经过12小时直飞加3小时香港机场到广州，周4晚终于到了，虽然累，但想到食物和朋友们，我还是提起精神来。棋和涵在‘表叔’餐厅等我吃饭，但李宁和其他大群朋友说已经5点多钟就定好台等我吃饭了。我却不知道，哎！但是第一天晚上还是和朋友们一起聊天喝酒续续旧。

当天才睡了2个钟头而已，然后正式的第1天就和前领馆的同事一起吃饭，和他们聊天续旧，大家都还是很疼爱我，多我呵护有加。我实在太感动，我离开后，他们不仅还记得我，还是对我依旧的好。然后还回去了领馆看下大家，虽然我走了，很多东西也变了，但感觉我好像从来没有离开过一样。

接着周末朋友们安排了去阳江吃海鲜，真的要感谢金铃的老公，让我们吃好,住好,也娱乐得好！到了那里，先吃当地的小吃，再去等渔船刚捞上来的海鲜，晚饭就是海鲜宴，真是过分啊！20多只胖螃蟹吃都吃不完！晚饭后又去海边放烟花，再吃甜点，再炒菜吃宵夜！隔天专门开车去吃乡村的烤泥鸡，打完麻将，再吃烤鸡。阳江之行真是难忘啊！除了吃，就是笑了！

接下来的每天都是朋友请我吃饭，按摩，吃点心。这次再和啊娜见了面，她真客气，还请了我们吃顿1千多的饭，谢谢她的有心！我的广州之旅真是奢侈和开心。我真的要谢谢所有广州的朋友们，爱你们在心口难开啊，没有你们，就没有我今天的开心。 实在不舍得和你们说再见，不过我会再回去和你们见面的。等我喔！

Exciting going back to China

back to China

Since 08/08/2008 last year till today 09/09/2009, I have been away from China and my friends for over 1 year. It seems very long, but it also feels like just yesterday. I guess I could not adjust the weather when I am back to Guangzhou. The weather here in London is perfect temperature about 19-25 degrees, however, Guangzhou is about 35 degrees and very humid. Then I properly will spend one week to adjust the jet-leg.

All these things do not matter when I think of meeting friends, eating delicious food and spending time with my niece and family. The joy will be overcome the bad sides. Yuki and other friends plan to drive to Yangjiang and eat seafood there at the weekend I arrive. On one hand, I can’t wait flying on Tuesday. On the other hand, I do feel sad that John could not join me back to China this time, maybe we will be back during the Chinese New year Next year!

One sad thing is that sister told me Mum has rented out our old house. It means that the house where I had spent 20 years is gone – my white cat, my usual place, and everything. Although the house is old and small, it contains all the memories of my childhood, friends who came to visit, and normal life. I know that sooner or later it will need to be re-decorate it, or sell it, but I will miss it so much!

兴奋的快回中国！

从8月8号2008年离开中国，到今天9月9号2009年，差不多一年没有回国，想起来好像很久，但实际又好像是昨天，1年中发生了很多事，大家都为生活努力奋斗着！伦敦的天气十分清爽－19－15度之间，回到广州我可能不太适应广州的闷热35度的温度，再说，要1个星期才能调节好我的时差。

但这些都不要紧，一想到见到老朋友和吃很多中餐，海鲜及最重要是见我姐的女儿，从她出生到现在1年了，我很想念希希！Yuki 已经安排好到达的周末去阳江吃海鲜！我太兴奋了。下周二就飞，但我又舍不得约翰一个人在伦敦，可惜他不能请假太久回去，过年我们再一起回去吧。

一个很伤心的消息，老姐告诉我我家的老房子租给别人了，老房子储存了我20年生活的点滴 － 从小学到中专，朋友来来回回去我家作客，老家虽旧，但很多朋友都感觉是他们的另一个窝。我可怜的白猫，很多角落的点滴，回忆就这样很快消失了。其实我知道老家需要重新专修或租出去的，只是时间问题，我会想念它的！

Summer time

I do enjoy the sunny day and hot temperature in London, and it is hot, but as humid as China. I asked friends to come to my house and made some cakes together before they fly back to HK and Japan. We bought so many ingredients and made the pumpkin pie and chocolate trifle cake.

Vicky and Miwa enjoyed making cakes and we had so much fun, even though Vicky had some flower everywhere, and Miwa dropped an egg on the floor, it’s part of the fun and experience with friends. After 2 hours hard work, we ordered Papajohn’s pizza and watched some girl’s movie – He is not in too you. Then drinking and chatting until 1 am.

I enjoy the quality time with friends here in Summer day, cool breeze, hot sun, summer clothes, cool beer, good food and good accompany, then what a happy weekend. Here are some of our latest pictures.

I have been working hard to find a part-time job, had 2 interviews yesterday, but we will see the  results and I have work harder hunting on Monday. Tonight we will see Keane and Ladyhawke’s concert in Shepherd  Bush, I am so looking forward to seeing them.

一个休闲的夏天

喜欢伦敦夏天的阳光，大大的太阳，感觉很热但风是凉爽的。虽然热，但不至于流汗，不过市中心因人多，汽车多，所以就超热，但没有广州那么潮湿，干爽天气。下周大家都快回各自的国家了，所以我叫泳棋和美和，来我家齐齐动手做蛋糕和派，我们买和超级多材料，做我们之前做过的南瓜派和巧克力莫丝。

泳棋和美和一起搓面粉啊，切南瓜，虽然他们都是第一次亲自烤蛋糕，泳棋把厨房搞得到处是面粉，美和把蛋掉到地上，这些都是开心的片刻，和他们一起享受生活美食的经历。经过2个小时的辛苦准备，终于完成了我们的派和巧克力蛋糕，然后我们叫了papajohn的pizza，一起看电影，甜点就是我们的派和蛋糕拉。

我十分享受夏天的凉风，热太阳，夏天的短裤，好朋友一起吃喝一起笑，轻松的夏天周末就这样过！这里是我们的最新照片。

我在努力找兼职呢，昨天有2份面试，不知道成不成功，英国兼职很难找啊，很多欧洲人来竞争，加上金融风暴，好在伦敦到处都是机会，周一再接再厉。今晚去听Keane 和 Ladyhawke的演唱会，约翰喜欢ladyhawke，等待疯狂的激情的夜晚终于来了。

Iphone 3G

John decided to buy the Iphone 3G from O2. He chose 16G instead of the 8G, because it is faster and have more memory. According to the rumors, the Iphone will be released a new version without 3G in China very soon. It will be interesting to see, of course, no one can ignore the big Chinese market nowadays. Some people are also saying that Iphone will have a super version this summer. John can upgrade to the new version, and then the 3G will be mine. Haha…can not wait! After using it, everything is so simple and easy to use. You can use it for google maps, ipod, Internet, messages, camera and everything can be connected with an Apple computer.

I have to say after using an Apple computer, you will become addicted and become an Apple person!

约翰终于在O2买了iphone 3G，内存16G的，他之前问我怎么样？我大力支持他买iphone，除了外形漂亮，实在十分使用，又可以讲电话，听音乐，（看来我们的黑色nano又要卖掉了），又可以上网，3G 定位系统，开车最方便。他还下载了很多使用的软件，比如走到哪里就可以查到最好吃的餐馆，就想带着小型的电脑一样。实在太方便了。对他这种超级喜欢科技的人，iphone最实用不过。听说iphone要在中国推出新的iphone，但没有3G的定位系统，当然不能忽视中国这个大市场拉，人们消费能力这么强！绝对支持！

自从用了苹果机的电脑和ipod之后，太爱苹果的东西了，从设计，功能，和使用性来说，微软远远没有能比苹果的。我们是苹果的超级fans! 听内部消息说，iphone这个夏天6-7月要升级，约翰说一升级，他再买新的，3G的就属于我的。哈哈，快点升级阿。iphone超级好用啊！我开心的又照了几张照片。

Our Home-made Pumpkin Pie

John bought me a recipe book for a Christmas gift. It is one of my favorite chefs’ dessert book James Martin – from the TV series ‘Sweet Baby James’. Today we decided to make one of the recipes and picked the pumpkin pie with pecan. The hard part was making the pastry with pecan, but we did it well. It only cost us a few pounds for the ingredients, but it worths at least 10 pounds in the cafe. The pie looks so amazing and tastes great – it’s not too sweet, with a top layer that could easily melt into your mouth, and pastry is crunchy and tasty with the pecan. It is exactly perfect! We are so proud and pleased with our pie. Hope we will make it for you one day. Here are some pictures

自家做的果仁南瓜派

约翰圣诞节送给我最爱的厨师James Martin的甜品书叫“占慕士的甜宝贝“ （我自己翻译的）我们在广州明珠台看过他的这个甜点专辑。今天我们终于有时间做甜点，我们选择了容易做果仁南瓜派。最难做的是打底的馅饼皮，果仁和馅饼皮一起搓，然后加5种香料，南瓜，焦糖，双层奶然后放进炬炉45分钟，出来的效果超级专业，不甜不腻，外层柔软融入你口中，馅饼皮脆而有果仁味道。超级好吃！等大家来我们家做客我做给你们吃哦！照片吸引人吧？

Goodbye 2008, good luck 2009

Another year has passed and another year will soon arrive. As our lives fall into a routine, a day feels like a blink, and a year feels like a month. What did we remember about 2008? There were the Olympic games in China, the worldwide financial crash, and the USA’s new president Barack Obama. 2008 was not exactly a good year for some people, and not a good year to invest.

I feel my shoulder (responsibilities) get heavier every year. Personally, I think I achieved many things and challenged myself in 2008. It is my dream to live aboard and experience the life in the UK. However, I never take this for granted, because it is not easy to come so far and the road will not always be stable. I see it more interesting to walk and face challenges. Despite the fact that life is hard, let’s ‘getting some fun out of life’ like a song from Madeleine Peyroux always encourages me.

再见08，09新的开始

一年又过去了，日子过得好了，时间眨眼又一天，一年就好像一个月。08让我们最难忘的是北京的奥运，西方的金融风暴和美国新的总统奥巴马。08并非一安稳的好年，09年可能继续陷入金融复活期，但我们以积极的态度去面对，望好的方面去看。多一岁，肩膀的责任越重，但我仍然为自己的梦想奔波着，挑战新的一年。本人来说，08年完成了满多任务的，约翰和我双方见过父母，放弃7年广州的生活，到英国充实自己，学习新的东西，这是我的梦想也是我人生日记中新一页，但这所有的一切来得并不是容易，约翰和我努力着为我们的将来奋斗着，将来的路也并非容易的走下去，我把它看成多点挑战，多点惊喜给自己。我想每个人都有他追求的梦想，有他的问题要去解决，但永远不要忘记，象爵士歌曲中一首歌曲中唱得，记得在生活中 ‘苦中作乐‘, 无论生活多么不如意，这首歌曲永远鼓励我。

First Snow in London

I know that London does not have heavy snow, but I have evidenced my first time – see the real snow. It was at 8: 45 am, and I looked out the window, pretty white snow has already covered over cars, our garden and the roofs. I saw the few snow flakes slowly and gentlely coming down from the sky. After few minutes, the heavy flakes like raining was flying down. There were big and chunky. Unforturnately I can’t go outside and touch them because I was still in my pyjamas. Here are some pictures I took.

However, it was only last 15 minutes, then it turned into rainning, then sunshine. That is amazing that you can always experience various weather in a day, and that’s why I fascinate about Britain – so unpredictable. I was overwhelmly excited to see the real snow, and experience the hail in the other day, because I grew up in the South of China, and haven’t seen the real snow and hail before. I am sure I will have many oppotunities to see the them, even a white Christmas in the future.

The weather is cold, windy and raining (sunshining). I was really exhausted to prepare my essays and exams and I am so glad it will be over soon, and I can enjoy my relaxing weekends again. Last week I was sick and I know many my friends in China are sick as well. Guys, take care and keep warm.

约翰跟我说伦敦很少下雪，下也可能短时间。今天我见证整这的下雪。早上8点45分，约翰跟我说外面下雪了，我猛得爬下床，看了下窗外 － 雪已经覆盖了车顶，屋檐和我们的花园。雪静静的漂着，我象个小公主在窗内，两只眼睛大大的等待着惊喜。过了几分钟，雪渐渐的大了起来，雪花大到象空心的乒乓球。我太激动了，打开窗去触摸它，可惜太冷了，还穿着睡衣，要不然我绝对冲外面感受 “雪”。我拍下了几张照片

仅仅15分钟的雪,然后雪转为雨，雨转为阳光。太惊奇了，一天有3种天气，这就是我喜欢英国的天气的原因－变化无常。我太兴奋看到伦敦第一次下雪，前几天也经历了冰雹。相信以后很多机会看下雪，在南方长大的我还没有看过真正的下雪，说不定也会经历‘白色的圣诞节’哦！

第一学期快结束了，所以很多考试和论文要准备，都快过去了，希望我可以过上轻松的周末，不用埋头苦读。累坏的我也感冒了，中国的朋友们也很多都病了，大家注意保暖哦！
